2015-2016 Team

The Neuroscience Association for Undergraduate Students (NAUS) represents neuroscience students at the University of Toronto.

Stay tuned for the various social and academic events that we organize throughout the year!

Jaclin Simonetta
Co-President

I hope you are just as excited as I am for the events NAUS has planned for this year!

I am a fourth year student majoring in neuroscience and molecular genetics. This will be my third year being part of NAUS. I love neuroscience for how it spans many different fields, including genetics, computer science, pharmacology and many other fields. We want to incorporate this into events, such as our academic seminars and our Everything Neuroscience conference!

Our goal for this year is to make a connection between the council, the neuroscience student body and the human biology department. We want to provide a great experience for the neuroscience students academically and socially, outside of the classroom. We have a very approachable executive committee, and we look forward to getting to know you all better whether it be in class, at our events or on campus!

Have a great year and see you around!

Vivian Liu
VP Finance

Hey all, I’m Vivian, your 2015-2016 VP Finance. I am doing a double major in neuroscience and biochem, and my duty this year is to organize the finances of the council, so we can bring you all the fun and educational events as promised! That being said, I am really looking forward to making this year a truly progressive one– not just for our council, but for the whole neuroscience community at UofT. Not only do we have great opportunities lined up in terms of the academic aspect, but we also don’t fall short of the social mingling and tingling (haha, doesn’t really make sense). In order to come these amazing events, make sure you’re updated on our newsfeed which is most likely the Facebook page for NAUS. So remember… be “MINDFUL” of NAUS!!

Hey everyone! I’m so excited for another year of NAUS!

I’m a fourth year student majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology. I have been a part of NAUS since second year and it has really been a lot of fun every year. We have a lot planned for this year and I really hope we can bring the neuroscience community closer together. If you are in neuroscience or is interested in it, I’m sure you’ll find something for you with the events we have planned this year!

If you are around campus, you can often find me studying in the stacks at Robarts or around Med Sci and Gerstein.

Outside of classes I usually watch Game of Thrones and and cry everytime someone dies or browse YouTube for hours.

I love meeting and talking to new people, so if you see me around, please give me shout!

Victor Lee
VP Social

I knew I wanted to study the brain since I was very young and have been looking forward to being in the neuroscience program since I was in high school! My persistent interest in neuroscience comes from very personal experiences that I have had in the past involving both me and the people around me. But mainly, I have always found it amazing how an organ weighing no more than a few pounds can generate consciousness, determine behaviour, and control bodily processes.

Being so excited about to be in neuroscience, I started to come to NAUS events since my first few weeks in university! I am happy to have served as VP Social this year and to be on the social committee the year before. I’m excited to be returning as VP Social again this year. We’re looking forward to a year of great events with the Neuroscience community.

I’m a very approachable person and I really enjoy socializing and meeting new people. I’m really happy about all the friends that I’ve made since I’ve come to university and am always excited to make more. If you ever see me around campus, feel free to introduce yourself and come talk to me!

3rd Year Rep

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to be a part of NAUS this upcoming school year! As the third year representative, I am especially looking forward to fully embodying and capturing the spirit of a neuroscience student by meeting all my fellow classmates at our awesome events

I am in third year, pursuing a double major in Neuroscience & Psychology with a minor in Music History & Culture. Over the past two years, I have been very active in the research community both at UofT and its corresponding partner hospitals. I am passionate about exploring new ideas and figuring out innovative solutions to challenging problems.

In my spare time I love hanging out with friends and exploring the city of course! I look forward to meeting as many of you as I possibly can!

Cheers!
